A 35th Reunion AHS Class of 1971 "Shot Gun Golf
Scramble" will happen, since the 30th Reunion AHS Class of 1971 "Shot
Gun Golf Scramble" was SUCH a success and thoroughly enjoyed by
all that participated.
If your knowledge of a "Shot Gun Golf Scramble" evades
you, it goes like this.
Four players are on a team. Team players will be
divided up on a handicap basis:
("A" through "E" handicap). You Don't HAVE to have golf clubs.
An "A" Player (shoots par golf or below)
"B" Player (shoots 10+ over par golf)
"C" Player ( shoots 20+ over par golf)
"D" Player (Shoots 30+ over par golf)
"E" Player (is a beginner player)
Hopefully we'll have enough participants to divide the teams up
equally with a mixture of "A" through "E" players on each team.
The best ball shot is the ball played.
Therefore if your "A" player on your team hits a good shot, but your
"D" player hits a better shot (i.e. straighter, not behind a tree, not
in the rough, out of bounds, easier to play off of a steep hill, etc.)
the team can choose to hit the "D" players ball. (Everybody gets lucky
eventually.)
Everyone gathers / places their ball on the same "lie" (Where that "D"
player ball landed) and hits from there and play continues as before.
Each team hits / plays their respective "best ball". There now, see??
Anyone can play. It's team play, not individuals.
A "Shot Gun" start means the teams (Flights) will all "tee
off /start" at the same time from different holes on the course.

Eighteen holes will be played. The Lowest Scores are
the winners. 1st through
6th? (Or however many folks
we have) places (maybe more, depends
on prizes and players) will
win prizes.
One each of a "Closest to the Hole" on a designated front and
back nine par three hole wins a prize.
One each of a "Longest Drive"
on a designated front and back nine par five hole wins a prize.
Prizes are ANY thing golf related,
towels, sleeve of balls, tees, gloves, markers, etc. Corporate logoed
items are most welcome. Gift
certificates with the cash!
Two mulligans per player,
(free shots/pitches) one per front and back nine holes. You
may also purchase mulligans @ $5.00 a shot if you so wish before play,
the money goes into the prize coffer.
A mulligan is: = a free shot or a pitch by
hand on a chip to green play.
A made up
mulligan rule we played with on our company scramble. A “PLAY”, if you
will, on proper etiquette golfing rules about NOT touching
balls in play.
It’s an “OUR
rule and we’ll do what we want thingy”.
It is
anything except holding the ball over the cup and dropping it in.
It is used from the best lie of a played ball. (Like a close
ball in a sand trap) No tee shots. Only playable balls.
One player per mulligan unless purchased, not all four
players with mulligans each.. Use it or lose it on each nine
holes. No carry overs of mulligans from each nine holes played.
Extra mulligans purchased are for the stated “Front or Back Nine”. If
you want a extra for the front and back nine, you must buy two and
state so.
It looks as if we can do this for around $45.00+/- per. It includes
green fee, cart and lunch afterward. Did we
say we need sponsored prizes from you??!! Oh yeah,
corporate friends who sponsor are
most welcome as well. Just let us
know. The more the merrier.
Some of the ladies/gents who
do not wish to play could help by driving a refreshment cart,
that's just a thought.
